CINCINNATI - Applause echoed through Judge Jim Cissell's courtroom on Friday. Applause, mixed with love and laughter.

Darin Hulsmyer says he and his wife fell in love with their newly adopted 2-year-old daughter almost immediately. They have cared for her almost since she was born.

Seven families gathered in a Hamilton County probate courtroom to finalize the adoptions of children who have been in foster care.

Robin Moore told the judge, "I want to adopt Kevin because Kevin has been a gift from God. I lost my son in 2007. He was murdered."

Moore says she needed someone to love again and Kevin needed someone to love him.

One teenage girl, Tabitha, shyly told the judge, "It's a new start."

And it is a new start for all these children whose birth families could not or did not take care of them.

Tonda Lyons adopted five siblings. They all gathered around Judge Cissell as he signed the final decree.

It was a huge moment that means these children have a forever home.
