CINCINNATI - A movie about the tragic life of a Pulitzer-prize winning reporter who first worked at The Kentucky Post is drawing attention in Germany.
Gary Webb committed suicide after being denounced for a series of stories he wrote that claimed the CIA helped Nicaragua's Contra rebels import cocaine into California during the 1980s.
Webb was a local reporter for The Kentucky Post in the late 1970s and early 1980s before moving on to the Cleveland Plain Dealer and later the San Jose Mercury News.
There's now a movie, titled "Kill the Messenger, " about Webb's life that's garnering a lot of attention in Europe. Actor Jeremy Renner will play Webb in the film, which is scheduled to begin production in the summer.
