Father charged after heroin overdose, daughter was alone on ventilator

DELHI TWP, Ohio - Police arrested a man Thursday night after he allegedly passed out after overdosing on heroin and leaving his daughter with special needs to fend for herself.
Delhi Township police say they found 28-year-old Michael Askins passed out on his dining room floor Thursday night at 5404 Whitmore Drive. Police say his 10-year-old daughter is on a ventilator and needs an adult with her. Askins is charged with neglecting his daughter after his alleged overdose.
Police records state that medics had to bring Askins back to life as a result of his overdose.
Askins is jailed as of Friday morning. Police say his daughter's condition is still undiagnosed, but requires "constant care."
Officials have not released any additional details at this time.
