SARDINIA, Ohio -- A tip via social media led law enforcement officials to a 54-year-old Brown County man who is at the center of a child pornography investigation.

The Brown County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) says it was led to Marcus Spaulding after being contacted by the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The task force told members of the sheriff's office that the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children had received information from Facebook about a man living in Brown County, according to the BCSO.

Upon further investigation, the sheriff's office obtained a search warrant for Spaulding’s home on Martin Alexander Road near Sardinia, deputies said. They say they removed computers, flash drives and other electronic components involved in the investigation during a search of the suspect's home on Wednesday.

Spaulding has been charged with five counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor and five counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor.

Additional charges may be filed pending further investigation.

Spaulding remains incarcerated at the Brown County Adult Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.
