Elder High School principal molds minds with pancake tradition

CINCINNATI -- The principal of Elder High School has a tradition: Once a month for 10 months a year, he whips together 50 pounds of mix and serves pancakes to about 300 boys.

That tradition started 17 years ago.

This Wednesday marked Tom Otten’s 150th “Pancake Wednesday,” and WCPO’s Tony Mirones went to find out what makes this breakfast so special.

Watch the video in the player above to see why Otten started his cooking frenzy and how he hopes his pancakes will mold the minds of students.
