UNION TWP., Ohio -- A $500,000 bond was set Monday morning for the Clermont County man charged with the death of his roommate.
Family members of the woman whose body was found inside her Union Township apartment are trying to wrap their minds around the fact that Phillip Hamm is accused of causing her death.
Police responded to the Southwinds Apartment complex in the 3800 block of Savannah Drive at about 10:45 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports of some sort of "trouble" at a residence on the property, authorities said.
Once at the scene, officers found the body of 20-year-old Meagan Fambry. Police said Fambry was the victim of “violence,” but did not provide specific details about her death.
Later in the day, Union Township police arrested 21-year-old Hamm in connection with Fambry's death.
While the exact nature of their relationship was not immediately available, investigators said Hamm lived with Fambry inside the apartment where her body was found.
Fambry’s family said she had only been living with Hamm, her "friend," for a few months.
Anthony Fambry described his younger sister as a loving person.
"She didn't care about herself. She was always concerned about taking care of everyone else," he said. "She wanted to give goodness to everyone."
Anthony Fambry said he felt at times his sister could be a little too trusting.
Her mother, Elizabeth Autry, said she met Hamm a few times and he seemed like a “nice guy."
“He definitely didn’t seem like he was capable of this (crime), but I didn't really know him," Autry said. Her father passed away from cancer the day before her daughter was found.
Autry attended Hamm's arraignment at 8:30 a.m. Monday before attending her father's funeral at 10 a.m. Afterwards, she was asked to identify Fambry's body.
"That's my Monday," she said.
Hamm was initially charged with murder but additional charges may be filed once the case is presented to the Clermont County Grand Jury, police said.
