WILDER, Ky. – Campbell County fire crews responded to a fire at Longnecks Sports Grill Tuesday evening.
Authorities said they received a call of a two-alarm fire at 5:07 p.m. The flames were out before 6 p.m.
Longnecks is located off of the AA Highway near I-275.
Hannah Chitkara tweeted an image from the scene at 5:20 p.m. showing flames coming from the building.
In an update Tuesday night on Longneck's Facebook page, the eatery said the fire was believed to be an accident started when employees were cleaning the fryers in the kitchen. They said the fire was isolated to a single fryer and caused significant smoke damage.
The message posted at 9 p.m. Tuesday read:
“Blessed be that everyone got out ok. It never got serious enough to where anyone was going to get hurt thanks to our great manager Jordan Brown. After the ashes settled and we got to walk around it really hit hard. What meant most to us was what we had always known. We just built the place. It was all of our staff and all of you who made this place. Tonight we cried with our staff and guests alike. So many of you came to grieve with us or offered your condolences through calls, text, twitter and Facebook. We are the most fortunate establishment on the planet because of our staff and our guests. We will be back and we will back better than ever. Holly's Bar will stand. Jimmy's kitchen will be stronger. And I can't wait to share a beer with you. Love you all.”
There is no word how much damage was done to the shop.
The blaze is under investigation.
