Man hit by truck in Seven Mile dies at University of Cincinnati Medical Center

Victim identified as Donald Mays, 84

HAMILTON, Ohio -- A pedestrian who was struck by a truck early Wednesday in Seven Mile has died.

The crash was first reported at about 6:20 a.m.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office said 84-year-old Donald Mays tried to cross U.S. Route 127 at the State Route 503 intersection.

Officials said Mays was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.

Sheriff Richard Jones said Mays died late Wednesday night at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Investigators said 48-year-old Randy Collins of Wayne Township hit Mays with a Ford pickup while heading south on U.S. 127.

Deputies at the scene said Collins told them he didn’t see Mays. Collins remained at the scene after the crash.

No charges have been filed and a crash reconstruction team is investigating the incident.

No other details have been released.
