MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Drey Lewis was arrested last night at his Grand Avenue residence because police “had information he was going to go out and shoot people in retaliation,” Middletown police Lt. Jimmy Cunningham told this news outlet.

Drey Lewis is the cousin of Chris Lewis, who was shot Thursday morning. The shooting in the 3600 block of Roosevelt Blvd. is part of an “ongoing problem” involving rival gangs in Middletown, police said.

Drey Lewis had a loaded gun cocked in his lap when the police department’s special units entered his home with a search warrant, Cunningham said. He was wanted for other drug trafficking offenses and was the focus of two drug investigations and search warrants.

The active drug investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending, according to police.

Police thanked those in the neighborhood who were patient and cooperative in the department’s mission to “get another drug dealer off the street."
