MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- A Butler County woman faces multiple charges after allegedly smoking marijuana with and giving other illegal drugs to her boyfriend's 11-year-old daughter.
Hollie Senteney, 23, is charged with corrupting another with drugs, a fourth-degree felony, and child endangering, a first-degree misdemeanor, according to Middletown police.
The 11-year-old girl was “crying and upset” when she told officers Senteney gave her yellow pills and a “rolled up green substance and had her smoke it with her,” according to the police report released Wednesday.
“They were sharing the marijuana, so she didn’t smoke the entire joint,” Middletown police Lt. Scott Reeve told the Journal-News. “I’m not sure how much of it she did smoke.”
Reeve said there's some confusion as to what other drugs the girl may have been given.
"The 11-year-old is also alleging that she was provided some other medication, as well. I believe it was Xanax," Reeve said. "We haven't been able to confirm that she was in fact given Xanax. Holly is claiming that she actually gave her a non-prescription pill."
Court records show that Senteney pleaded guilty in September 2013 to attempted drug abuse methamphetamine and attempted drug abuse Xanax.
The report filed Wednesday indicates the girl's godmother, Sasha Thomas, first reported the incident, which occurred in the 1300 block of First Avenue, to police on Sunday.
"This was an unusual complaint," Reeve said. "I don't recall us getting a complaint like this at least recently so thankfully this is not a common occurrence."
The godmother told police she became suspicious after coming across the girl’s iPad and noticing a Facebook conversation between the girl and Senteney that referenced drug use.
Reeve said it’s “really disturbing for an 11-year-old to be introduced to drugs by someone she’s supposed to trust and have faith in.”
“We don’t want children to grow up in this type of environment where they’re introduced to drugs at such a young ages by someone that’s a caregiver,” he said.
Senteney is scheduled to appear in Middletown Municipal Court for a preliminary hearing on July 23.
The investigation is ongoing.
