LIBERTY TWP, Ohio - Ohio Gov. John Kasich and a union leader are coming to Butler County Monday for the final push in the battle over Issue 2.
Issue 2 is the vote to either keep or repeal the law known as Senate Bill 5. Unions argue the law limits collective bargaining. Supporters say it gives local governments a chance to have better control over spending.
The president of the International Association of Fire Fighters, Harold Schaitberger, is coming to Middletown for a rally for union members, their families and the public. He also plans to talk about fire station closures and possible firefighter layoffs planned for the city.
Schaitberger will talk to an expected large crowd at 12:45 p.m. at the I.A.M. Union Hall Local Lodge 1943 located at 1100 Crawford Street in Middletown.
Kasich arrives in Liberty Township Monday evening for an event called a Victory Rally. The event, beginning at 6:30 p.m., is open to the public, but you must RSVP. Click here to link to the West Chester Tea Party website that provides a registration page.
The event is taking place at the Terry Farm, located on St. Rt. 747 in Liberty Township. This event also supports the statewide Issue 3 which is a vote on a health care freedom amendment.
