HAMILTON – A Fairfield man who police say was involved in a shooting in January has died.
The shooting happened at about 2:45 a.m. on January 31. Police found Derrick M. Brown in the parking lot of the Indian Springs Apartment Complex on Hampshire Drive in Hamilton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen.
Brown was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment and died on Friday, Feb. 21, according to Journal-News.
Brown told investigators the shooting occurred after a verbal argument with Christopher M. Parks, 22.
Police arrested Parks on Feb. 6 on Hopple Street in Cincinnati and charged him with possessing a weapon while under disability.
Further investigation showed Brown “was the primary aggressor in the altercation that led to his being shot,” according to police.
Brown had been indicted for attempted murder, felonious assault and possessing weapons under disability. No further charges were brought against Parks.
Hamilton police said the investigation is complete and no further charges are anticipated.
