HAMILTON, Ohio -- The burglar who broke into the Lake Bailee gun range on Thanksgiving took a spill on his way in, but that didn’t stop him from stealing thousands of dollars on his way out, police said.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday they were searching for the "clumsy bandit" who made off with $3,800 while gun range owner Jesse VonStein was celebrating the holiday. Security cameras inside the building captured the burglar tumbling through a window and then making a beeline for the place where VonStein kept the cash.

VonStein said this was not the first time someone had burglarized his business -- the security cameras were installed after someone stole several guns from the range in September. He said he plans to install several more after the Thanksgiving incident.

"I’ve got cameras all over this place," VonStein said. "Anybody that comes in, they are going to get caught."

Detective Aaron Sorrell of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that police had identified a suspect in this case but had not made an arrest.

Christy Cramer VonStein, Jesse’s wife, posted on Facebook that she believed the burglar was someone she and her husband knew.

"He knew where to go," she wrote. "We know who this is. All he had to do was ask and my husband would have helped him."
