HAMILTON, Ohio -- A cat may have saved its owners early Saturday in Hamilton’s west side.
Residents at 76 Piccadilly Drive woke up to the sound of the feline meowing loudly outside their bedroom door, according to the Hamilton Fire Department.
When the owner of the home opened the door he was confronted with thick black smoke filling the house. The man woke his wife. He also saved his son from the boy’s bedroom.
The trio had to exit the house through a second story window in the master bedroom because of the smoke and heat. The father lowered his son to his wife, who had leapt from the window first, dispatchers said.
Fire fighters did not give an initial cause for the fire. It took crews about an hour and a half to put out the blaze that caused $100,000 worth of damage.
No one was injured.
