MILFORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio – One man died on Saturday when his car was struck by a train in Butler County.
The Butler County coroner pronounced Johnny Robbins, 38 of Hamilton, dead at the scene after he lost control of his 1999 Ford Taurus at about 1 a.m. driving northbound on Hamilton-Eaton Road.
Robbins veered into the left hand lane and struck a guardrail as he drove into a curve, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. Robbins’ car then careened off the railing and ended up on nearby railroad tracks.
A northbound Northfolk and Southern train then struck Robbins’ vehicle, dragging it approximately 1,600 feet.
The cause of the initial loss of control of the Taurus remains under investigation, Butler County Public Information Officer Sgt. Monte Mayer said.
