FAIRFIELD, Ohio - A Fairfield man is dead after a home invasion Saturday night.

Police say it happened Saturday night in the 5800 block of Judy Drive when two men entered the home of Julian Slaven, 19.

The suspects, one armed with a gun, shot Slaven and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two men then fled from the home and are still on the loose.

9 News spoke with Slaven's mother after she returned home from spending most of the night at the Fairfield Police Department. She said she was inside her bedroom sleeping when the home invasion and shooting happened. She called 911 as her son lay on the ground, dying from the gunshot wound he sustained.

"I need an ambulance at my house right away," Slaven's mother said in the 911 call. "There's a car... I just got robbed at my house and they shot my son."

"There was a guy in a mask and a guy... and I ran in my bedroom," Slaven's mother continued on the call.

Police were devoting long hours looking for Slaven's killers Monday.

"We're looking for any friends, family, anybody that had contact with Julian earlier in the day that may know what he was doing or where he was going to who he might have been hanging out with," said Fairfield Public Information Officer Doug Day. "Just anything to kinda lead us up to what happened that night."

The investigation is complicated by a vague description of the suspects, and the only details about the getaway car being that it is light in color.

"This is not something that was random," Day said. "Obviously they knew him or knew of him. It wasn't something where someone just kicked somebody's door down and try to rob them."

An autopsy was planned for Monday by the Butler County Coroner's office.

Anyone with information on this deadly shooting is asked to contact Crime Stoppers or the Fairfield Police Department at (513) 829-8201.
