Bright Ideas: Local company creates apps for ride home & musician seeks funds to elevate churchgoers

CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati area is rich in creativity and bright ideas. Many artists, community activists and entrepreneurs are ready to run with projects and programs, and they’re turning to crowdfunding sites to fuel their ideas.

Each week, we’ll highlight two projects that are underway and asking for your support.

Project: Help 321-RIDE Expand

Started: December 17, 2013
Goal: $200,000
Project By: Jon Amster

321-RIDE has been in business for more than six years. Its aim is to provide Tri-State residents with reliable rides home after a night on the town. Anyone can call or text a request, and a chauffeur is dispatched to the client’s location. Upon arrival, the chauffeur drives the customer home in his or her own car.

  • Where will the money go? Your donation will be used to design, build and implement a mobile app for both iPhone and Android platforms.

The company is trying to bring its services to smartphones with the creation of mobile apps for both iPhone and Android. The app would llow clients to share 321-RIDE with friends and get rewarded for doing so.

Amster believes that 321-RIDE's expansion will give customers more options for booking rides.

Why should people support Help 321-RIDE Expand?

Jon Amster says: “First, our project is not just an idea, it is a reality. 321-RIDE is an established and profitable company looking to grow further. When you contribute to 321-RIDE's Indiegogo campaign, you can be sure that your money will be put to good use and not wasted. In exchange for your contributions, 321-RIDE is offering great perks, which include advanced use of new services, account credits, and free rides."

Project: Kyle Boreing’s New Solo CD

Started: December 9, 2013
Goal: $10,000
Project By: Kyle Boreing

Gospel singer and worship leader Kyle Boreing is a seasoned music professional. Although it’s been eight years since his last release, he’s been busy at work creating new music. Over the years, Boreing says he’s made many friends in the professional gospel music industry who have expressed interest in working with him on a solo project. While the passion and creativity were there, the funding was not. That’s when Kyle decided to fund through

  • Where will the money go? Donations will pay for studio time, licensing, packaging, printing, and all the other elements that go into producing a CD.

Boreing’s focus is on his church, Faith Fellowship in Bridgetown, so it's not surprising that he plans to put the proceeds from his CD to work there. An elevator shaft was constructed for the church when it was built some 10 years ago, but the elevator itself was never installed. The congregation includes elderly and physically disabled people who would benefit from the elevator.

Why should people support Kyle Boreing’s New Solo CD?

Kyle Boreing says: “I have been involved in the music industry on a semi-professional level for a decade, and this project really is the culmination of all of my work. The talent level involved includes session players and producers who have worked with some of the top names in the music industry on a national level, giving this project the best possible quality. Being a Kickstarter campaign, anyone who supports the project with a pledge of $5 or more will receive exclusive rewards that include anything from a free copy of the final project to actually being a part of the production process.”
