RICHWOOD, Ky. — A woman was hospitalized Sunday afternoon after a crash involving a vehicle and a train in Richwood, Ky.
Officials said Melissa Hemingway, 44, managed to drive her Buick Somerset about a half-mile southbound on the tracks before colliding with an oncoming northbound Norfolk Southern train near the 11,000 block of Old Lexington Pike at about 1:15 p.m.
The train was traveling at about 25 mph and went into full emergency brake mode, Boone County authorities said.
The train pushed Hemingway's car back about 215 yards. She was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision.
