Several people out enjoying seasonal weather at Northern Kentucky parks Saturday returned to their vehicles to find a rude surprise.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office reported via its Facebook page that several cars were broken into between 3:10 p.m. and 3:25 p.m. at the Boone County Dog Park and England-Idlewild Park in Burlington. The dog park is adjacent to England-Idlewild Park at 5550 Idlewild Rd.
In addition to damage to the vehicles, investigators say several thousand dollars worth of personal items were stolen.
Specific details on the number of cars that were broken into and what was taken were not released.
At this time police have not released a firm description of the suspect but said a person of interest was seen near the scene wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and carried a backpack at the time. They believe he was walking a golden retriever.
The 290-acre park area offers three fishing ponds, as well as sporting fields, bike and walking trails, children's play areas and entertainment venues. Its layout features wooded and open areas.
