BOONE COUNTY, Ky. -- Police say a man slammed his car into the back of a semi-truck early Wednesday in Boone County then fled the scene, leaving his passenger in the damaged vehicle.
The crash happened at about 12:30 a.m. on northbound Interstate 75 just past the Turfway Road ramp, according to officials.
Police say the man crashed his white compact car into the back of the semi-truck at a high speed then fled the scene without his passenger.
The passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries.
Police say the truck driver did not realize he had been hit by a car, but thought he had blown a tire. He was not injured.
Officers believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and they are still looking for the driver.
