Man arrested in connection with Florence home invasion

FLORENCE, Ky. - Police arrested a man arrest in connection with a Florence home-invasion robbery during which a couple was bound in their home.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department reported William, 66, and Wanda Baise, 62, were robbed at gunpoint by two men in their Oakbrook subdivision home at about 11:40 a.m. on Aug. 5.

According to the sheriff's office, William Baise went to greet a known acquaintance at his front door. When he opened the door the two men pushed the acquaintance aside and entered his home brandishing a handgun.

The suspects ordered William Baise to retrieve cash from his home before and then taped up William and his wife Wanda.

Police say the acquaintance, Thomas Powell III, 42 of Erlanger, led the two suspects to the condo so the couple would open the door. 

Powell was charged with one count of robbery and two counts of kidnapping.

Police continue to search for the other two suspects.
