CINCINNATI -- Today is Giving Tuesday, a day that starkly contrasts Americans massive spending spree between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It’s a day focused on giving, and Cincinnati Bengals players and Lighthouse Youth Services are teaming up for the event.
The purpose of #GivingTuesday is to drive donations to charities with the same passion that shoppers have on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Tuesday marks the fourth annual “Share on the Square,” where Bengals players Vincent Rey, Chris Pressley, Kevin Huber, Mike Nugent and Clark Harris will accept gifts for Lighthouse Youth Services at Fountain Square.
Lighthouse provides residential, educational and mental health support services for children, youth and families.
The Fountain Square event will have radio station Q102 broadcasting live and autograph and photo opportunities with the Bengals players.
Each year, Lighthouse relies on the help of the community to provide gifts for more than 550 teenagers living in foster care, group homes and older youth living independently in supervised apartments, as well as nearly 200 homeless youth.
The community is asked to purchase gifts, gift cards and basic necessities from the Lighthouse "Top 10 Wish List" to help local youth in need. Items on the wish list include basic necessities, such as gloves, scarves, sweatshirts, personal care and household items.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Fountain Square.
