Boyfriend, girlfriend die in Adams County crash

WEST UNION, Ohio – A boyfriend and girlfriend – both 18 - were killed Sunday in a two-car crash on State Route 247 at Jane Street, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Dillon Grooms, of West Union, was driving a 2001 Ford Mustang with Haley Grooms, of Blue Creek, in the front seat, OSHP said.  Grooms was southbound on SR 247 and failed to yield while turning left onto Jane Street. Grooms hit a northbound 1999 Cadillac Deville driven by Ivan Ward, 73, of West Union.

The crash happened at 5:08 p.m.

The teens were not wearing seat belts, but Ward was, according to the Highway Patrol.

Ward had non-life threatening injuries and was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor at this time   The crash remains under investigation by the  Highway Patrol Georgetown Post.
