CINCINNATI - Strong winds are being blamed for thousands of power outages that occurred across the Tri-State Thursday evening.

At one point 7,796 Duke Energy customers in southwestern Ohio were without power, according to the Duke Energy website. As of 11:30 p.m. there were only 140 outages reported.

Most of the outages were reported in Clermont and Butler counties. Each county had around 4,000 customers without power.

There were also 115 customers in Hamilton County that lost power. A handful of customers were without power in Warren County. All 115 customers were still without power as of 11:30 p.m.

The cause of the outages has not been determined but strong winds were experienced in multiple areas across the Tri-State Thursday evening.
