COVINGTON, Ky. - Jeff Ruby's Waterfront, the popular restaurant which has been closed for the past two years, will reopen at Covington Landing, Ruby announced Friday.
Ruby said he recently signed a long-term lease with the city of Covington and will start developing the site "very soon."
The Waterfront was shut down after it detached from its moorings in April 11, 2011. More than 150 patrons were on board as the restaurant floated down the Ohio River and lodged under the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge for several hours.
Crews used ladders, ropes and even a walking board to rescue everyone on board.
The incident prompted Ruby to close the establishment, which has remained unused since it was placed back in its original location.
