U.S. Department of Agriculture data show that Indiana and Ohio have been two of the top turkey-producing states over the past decade.
In Indiana, the turkey “headcount” has risen 40% since 2003 – higher than any other top-producing state reporting data over that time period.
In terms of pounds produced, Ohio out-paced the nation the past couple of years, increasing about 9% from 2011-2012. Nationally, pound production rose about 4%.
