Carrollton, Ky. - Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 9:13 a.m. Saturday in Carroll County after a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old struck a tree near the rear entrance of General Butler State Park.
The juvenile driver was travelling with three occupants. Jaquolin Valoria Villalva Rocha, 18, of Warsaw, Leonardo Lopez Sanchez, 22, of Louisville and Rocha's infant child. Rocha and Sanchez were transported to University of Louisville Hospital by Air Care with life-threatening injuries.
Rocha's infant child was pronounced dead after being taken to Carroll County Memorial Hospital. Rocha and Sanchez were not wearing a seat belt and the infant was not in a child restraint.
Investigators say alcohol was a factor in the crash. The juvenile driver was not injured and is being charged with a DUI, manslaughter, failure to use a child restraint, no operator's license, failure to maintain insurance, failure to wear seat belt and two counts of wanton endangerment.
The juvenile driver is being held at the Campbell County Juvenile Detention Center.
