Jennifer Moore from AAA has important advice for Florida homeowners.

Moore recommends homeowners check their insurance policies to ensure their policies include hurricane damage.

She said those who own property should check with their property manager to gauge the extent of the damage.

Those who plan to travel to Florida to assess damage should first make sure that it is safe to do so.

"Once you do make it down there take pictures,” Moore said. “We don’t recommend you throw anything away. Your insurance company is going to need to look at all the damaged items prior to removal."

Moore also said home inventory is key for filing a claim.

“We recommend (taking inventory) anytime you purchase a new home, build a new home, or buy new items for the home. New luxury furniture, new paintings, always take inventory of your house, either photos or video that you have stored on a computer or another flash drive that’s easily accessible, so when it’s time to make these claims, your insurance adjustor will already have that information,” she said.
