CINCINNATI - Thanksgiving is just more than two weeks away and the season of giving is beginning in the Tri-State. Wednesday, Aunt Millie's donated 2,400 loaves of butter-top white bread to the Freestore Foodbank Distribution Center in Bond Hill.
Freestore is the largest emergency food and services provider in the Tri-State, serving 315 nonprofit member agencies and distributing more than 16 million meals annually.
Kurt Reiber, President and CEO of the food bank, says its USDA production is down by 40 percent and demands are up. The latest donation is generous and will go along way in helping to feed residents in the Tri-State, he added.
"This bread donation that we got from Aunt Millie's is really just a start of our holiday donations. This bread will allow us to get some food out to the member agencies that we support in the 20-county throughout the Tri-State," Reiber said.
If you would like to help feed local families in need, Freestore Foodbank will be having a double-your-dollar donation day on Nov. 15. For every dollar donated, corporate and individual sponsors will match it. Also, people may visit the Freestore Foodbank's website to learn more about their programs and food drives.
