CINCINNATI - In an effort to help students and families at Roberts Academy in Price Hill, Findlay Market opened a farm stand that will permanently sit in the school's parking lot.
The Findlay Market Farmstand, re-purposed from an old shipping container, had its grand opening on school grounds Tuesday, July 2.
"It's really convenient and I like the idea of the produce being fresh," said Larry Eversole, a Price Hill resident who attended the opening.
The stand features produce grown through the Findlay Market Farms project and other local and regional producers. It also has products from market merchants such as Bean Haus and Colonel De's.
The Farmstand will be open on Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will be run by volunteers and Findlay Market staff.
The Findlay Market Farmstand aims at improving access to and availability of fresh, healthy foods. Volunteers hope to establish a healthy school environment, reduce childhood obesity, and prevent diet-related chronic illness.
