A Northern Kentucky family says bullying was a factor in a 13-year-old boy's suicide.
Family members of Sam Denham say the 8th grader took his own life Friday. His mother, Carol Denham, says a candle light vigil was held at the boys home in Covington on Saturday evening.
At the vigil, several of Denham's classmates reported that Sam was constantly teased at school and on the internet.
Carol says Denham had mentioned several examples of bullying during the previous school year, but failed to mention any problems from the current school year.
Carol says she felt compelled to share her son's story in an effort to help prevent similar stories from happening.
Denham attended Woodland Middle School, which is part of the Kenton County School District. 9 News attempted to contact district officials, but no one was available for comment.
The family says there will be another candle light vigil Monday night at 6 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church of Taylor Mill Road.
