Student of the Week: Margaret Johnson

Our latest student of the week comes from Ryle High School. Margaret “Elaine” Johnson leads the way at Ryle. She ranks 2nd out of 370 students in her senior class with a 3.99 G.P.A.

“Elaine is an extremely giving, hard-working, selfless student. Every day she exhibits qualities of high character and leadership and is an inspiring example to her fellow students,” Annie Nichols, a teacher at Ryle, said.

Johnson is the secretary of the National Honor Society and a member of the Future Business Leaders of America.

Elaine is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Hispanic Honors Society, Science National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and English Honor Society.

It’s not just in the classroom where Elaine excels. Johnson is also a member of the track & field and cross-country teams.

“Elaine loves learning and has taken 8 Honors and 9 AP classes while attending Ryle, always challenging herself each year. She has studied in Europe and traveled to Haiti on a mission trip,” Nichols said.

As if her challenging course load and year round sports activities weren’t enough, Elaine spends her free time helping out in her community.

“As the NHS Sponsor I have witnessed Elaine's desire and determination to help others and make whatever event she participates in be the very best. As busy as Elaine is, she is never too busy to help others. As the NHS secretary, she organizes the community service events. There have been countless occasions where I ask Elaine if she knows anyone who can help a fellow student or anyone that could help an organization. Elaine will always respond with, ‘I can do it.’ She never complains and is always smiling,” Nichols said.
