Student of the Week: Ana Calvopina

Ana Calvopina is a standout at Notre Dame Academy. The senior ranks in the top third of her class with a GPA of 3.92.

"She is absolutely, I think, the standout senior," teacher Lynn Dickman said.

Ana is also a member of the National Honor Society and has been for two years. She also serves on Student Council including being voted class president previously.

Besides taking several advanced placement courses, Calvopina volunteers at Notre Dame’s Urban Education Center.

"I like helping others, and if it's through something I like to do, which is learning, I just like that. I like to get the kids enthused about education," Calvopina said.

Calvopina was only six-years-old when she and her family moved to the U.S. from Ecuador, but that hasn’t slowed her down.

"I think Ana is a person of great integrity, as well as intelligence, and love," Dickman said.

She plans on attending Xavier University after graduation. Ana says she will major in biology, and possibly pursue a minor in French.
