FAIRFIELD, Ohio - This week's Student of the Week is Joshua Bellisario from Fairfield High School.
He volunteers at a local hospital and loves talking with patients. He says he enjoys helping people achieve their goals.
"I think it's really important for people to push themselves to see how far they can get," Bellisario said. "I just think that people don't take the step forward that they could, and it's really important to do and it will get you a lot farther."
Bellisario's teachers enjoy having him in class, and say he's a natural leader who takes time to help other students.
"He really genuinely cares about people and he cares about his friends and the students around him," said Sherry Randall, the Fairfield District Orchestra Director. "He sets a wonderful example for other students."
Bellisario is taking all advanced placement classes. He has a 4.35 GPA and is in the National Honor Society.
He's also a section leader of his school's orchestra. He says that's helped him become a leader.
"I was younger than everyone else in the section, so it was little harder getting the authority at first, but once you kind of establish yourself as a leader, people really listen to you," Bellisario said.
Bellisario says playing music professionally isn't in his future, but he does plan on going into the medical field.
His teachers and classmates know he'll succeed in whatever he does.
"He's a wonderful young man and I know he'll be a wonderful doctor or whatever he chooses to become in his lifetime because I see a wonderful person behind the student that I see everyday," Randall said.
