CINCINNATI - An early morning fire caused close to $50,000 of damage at a large apartment complex in Mount Washington Tuesday.
Police say the flames started at about 2 a.m. in the 5600 block of Beechmont Avenue.
Fire crews reported the fire originated in the apartment's basement, which sustained heavy smoke and water damage.
No one inside the building was hurt, but officials say a cat perished in the blaze. Two families were displaced and are obtaining assistance from the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire has not been released and no further details are available at this time.
