HEBRON, Ky. - The Boone County Sheriff's Office released new photos Wednesday of two men who allegedly jars containing money collected for sick children from a Hebron, Ky. gas station.
Surveillance footage taken Sunday, March 17 at approximately 10:41 a.m. shows two unidentified men enter the Speedway gas station located at 3555 Northbend Road. One of the two men is then seen distracting a clerk while the second man removes a jar of donations intended for the Children's Miracle Network and places it under his shirt, according to a press release from the Boone County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say the man who distracted the clerk walked out of the store first to help conceal the donation jar.
Both suspects then returned to the gas station less than an hour later and stole a second jar.
Workers at the store say both suspects are regulars but they have not been able to identity them by name, according to a press release from the sheriff's office. The workers have also been unable to identify the vehicle used during the theft.
One of the suspects was wearing a dark green hooded sweatshirt, a black t-shirt and had short hair. The other suspect had a beard and was wearing a plaid/flannel over-shirt or coat, and a ball cap at the time of the incident.
