CINCINNATI - Officials say a deer contributed to a Delhi Township accident that sent one man to the hospital early Tuesday morning.

A man was driving north on Bender Road near River Road when he lost control of his vehicle after a deer crossed in front of him at about 12:30 a.m.

The man drove off the side of the road and crashed his vehicle. Emergency crews transported the man to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Ohio is home to an estimated 600,000 white-tail deer, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources . When deer become over abundant, they cause damage by eating farmer's crops and residential landscaping plants and over-abundant deer can cause increased automobile accidents, according to ODNR research.

Officials have not released any additional details about the crash.
