MASON, Ohio - A franchise owner of a local day care is in jail, charged with rape.

John Foster, 36, of Mason, was arrested by the Warren County Sheriff''s Office on Wednesday and charged with one count of rape.

Foster is the owner of the Primrose School on River's Bend Drive in Maineville. He owns it with his wife. Investigators say the alleged victim was not a student at the school. At this point, authorities have no reported incidents involving students at the school.

Court records indicate the accusations are in connection to sexual conduct with a girl under the age of 13. The alleged conduct happened between 1999 and 2003.

Warren County Sheriff Larry Sims says the victim reported the situation to his office Wednesday. Foster could face more charges in connection with this same victim.

Sims says Foster did not have much direct contact with the students. He worked as an administrator.

Foster was arraigned in Mason Municipal Court Thursday morning and given a $500,000 bond. He is being held at the Warren County Jail.

The sheriff's office says school officials are cooperating fully and will meet with parents of children who attend the school at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The school released the following statement on Thursday:

We've recently learned of the allegations and arrest of a franchise owner of the River's Bend School. At this time the school will remain open as school management and staff members are on-site. Primrose Support Center will be there to provide additional support to the school.
