CINCINNATI -- Authorities arrested a woman Tuesday who they said seriously hurt her 2-year-old son in a crash while she was driving with alcohol and marijuana in her system.

Brittany Lindsey, 29, was driving northbound on Interstate 71 on June 10 when the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee went off the right side of the highway and struck the guardrail, according to court records. The vehicle then went back across all three northbound lanes and hit a concrete median barrier wall.

Lindsey had her 9-year-old daughter, 2-year-old son and 9-month-old daughter in the SUV with her at the time of the crash, according to court records. Firefighters drove Lindsey and the boy to local hospitals, and family members who went to the scene brought the girls.

The boy suffered a closed skull fracture, cerebral contustion, possible lumbar fracture and a head laceration requiring staples.

Emergency responders and a witness reported smelling the odor of alcohol on Lindsey, according to court records. She also had slurred speech and was uncooperative with medical staff.

State records indicated Lindsey was under multiple driving suspensions at the time of the crash. A test found she had alcohol over the legal limit, marijuana and marijuana metabolites in her blood, according to court records.

Authorities charged Lindsey with two counts of aggravated vehicular assault and three counts of endangering children.
