Wanted man jumps into Great Miami River to evade police

But he doesn't get far

FRANKLIN, Ohio  — A Middletown man jumped into the Great Miami River to evade police Monday morning, but he didn't get far.

Franklin police pulled Jesse Joseph Rogers, 25, out of the river near the Lions Bridge, according to our news partner,  the Journal-News.

Police got a call from a relative of Rogers that he was near the Maxwell Apartments on River Street  and that he was wanted in Clermont County, according to Franklin police Capt. Ross Coulton.

As police arrived to arrest him, Rogers ran into the river.

Rogers was wanted for felony theft and breaking and entering, the Journal-News reported  He was checked out at the hospital and taken to the Clermont County Jail.
