GLENDALE, Ohio -- A police chase ended when a driver crashed into the side of a home early Saturday morning.

Mashi Colvin, 21, is charged with failure to comply and obstructing official business, as well as numerous traffic charges, according to Forest Park Police Sgt. Tony Pope. He also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

An officer reported Colvin was driving a Toyota Camry west in the eastbound lanes and refused to stop on West Sharon Road near Junefield Avenue. He sped away, at one point going 75 mph and running through a stop light, according to an audio recording from the pursuit.

Colvin ran off after he crashed into a home on East Sharon Road about 3 miles away, according to the recording. A canine unit from Springfield Township eventually caught him.

Ronald Warren, who's lived in the home for 10 years, said neither he nor his wife was injured.

An air-conditioning unit caught fire. There was smoke in the house, Warren said, so they grabbed their dogs and went outside.

"My daughter's in Columbus this weekend, and where the car came through the house is where she sleeps. So it would have been right above her, and by looking at the damage downstairs, it's pretty extensive," Warren said.

Nearly a dozen emergency vehicles were called to the crash scene. A hole in their home was boarded up within a few hours.
