OXFORD, Ohio -- A crowd estimated at 1,000 people drew the attention of Oxford police and resulted in a citation under the city’s nuisance party regulations.

Police responded to a house in the 200 block of South Main Street just before 4 p.m. Aug. 26.

According to WCPO media partner the Journal-News, officers found the noise level violated the city’s noise ordinance and the back yard was covered with beer cans and party trash.

Police cited Isaac Italiaander, 21, for the nuisance party violation. He's a senior at Miami University, according to the school directory.

Police also witnessed open container violations and public urination, and they arrested one person for underage alcohol use, according to a police report.

The WCPO I-Team has extensively covered the drinking culture in Oxford and at Miami.

Erica Buschick, a Miami freshman, died from alcohol poisoning in January. University president Gregory Crawford vowed to "break through" students' binge-drinking problem.

The I-Team found some students faced no punishment after 21 of them were hospitalized for drinking in the span of just three days in February. Police said their behavior taxed emergency services in the small community.

In April, university spokeswoman Claire Wagner told the I-Team that Miami was looking at new and ramped-up efforts to curb alcohol abuse.
