CINCINNATI -- A man had been drinking the night he's accused of beating his father to death, a defense attorney said Saturday.

Dwayne West, 36, is charged with murder in the death of Boris Tolliver, 56.

Municipal Court Judge Heather Russell set West's bond at $750,000 at a hearing Saturday morning. His case goes to a grand jury June 12.

Police found Tolliver dead Thursday night inside an apartment on Mapleleaf Avenue in Pleasant Ridge.

Roxann Dieffenbach, West's attorney, said Tolliver and West had been drinking "rather heavily" before Tolliver died.

West knew he was wanted and turned himself in to a police officer he saw at a UDF on Montgomery Road, Dieffenbach said.
