A man accused of robbing a Brown County pharmacy is facing multiple charges after police said he attempted to run over officers during a pursuit Monday morning.
MOUNT ORAB, Ohio – A man accused of robbing a Brown County pharmacy is facing multiple charges after police said he attempted to run over officers during a pursuit Monday morning.
Mount Orab police received a call about an armed robbery at the Mount Orab Pharmacy in the Northpoint Plaza at about 10:30 a.m.
A pharmacist on duty said Saun Donahue, 37 of Williamsburg, demanded prescription Oxycodone pills before fleeing the scene in a pickup truck.
Donahue, according to reports, said he had a gun in the incident.
Officers tracked Donahue leaving the scene. When approached, he initially got out of his truck, then jumped back into the vehicle and charged at police near Rt. 32 and Eastwood roads, authorities said.
Mount Orab Police Lt. Josh Black said officers fired at the tires of Donahue’s vehicle to attempt to stop him. No officers were hurt in the incident.
"There was some question about his mental status and who he might try to run into to," said Mout Orab Police Chief Bryan Mount. "I believe the officers who were in pursuit were concerned he was going to drive head on into traffic and possibly cause injury to other people. I don't believe the officers were trying to strike him. I think the officers were concerned he was going to take the vehicle and drive into other traffic."
Donahue is also suspected of robbing the same pharmacy Jan. 13, and another in Williamsburg, located in neighboring Clermont County, last summer.
In a Crimestoppers description of the Jan. 13 robbery, the suspect in that instance demanded "oxy 30's." He also told the pharmacist he had a gun.
Donahue was transported to a local hospital on Monday to be checked out before being transported to the Brown County Adult Detention Center.
Mount said they expected to charge Donahue with robbery, fleeing and alluding officers, and attempted aggravated vehicular assault of a police officer.
