CINCINNATI – A Hamilton County grand jury indicted a man in a cold case killing Thursday.

Patrick Hill, 24, is accused of fatally shooting Lester Parker Jr. in Lincoln Heights on Nov. 24, 2008, according to court records. He was charged with murder in the case.

The victim's sister, Nikol Brown, said her "heart just skipped a beat" when she learned of the indictment.

"I didn't know what to think -- I thought i was reading the wrong stuff," she said. "I was just in shock."

Hill has been locked up at the Hamilton County Justice Center since 2014 on unrelated robbery charges. Parker was included in a deck of “cold case” playing cards first sold in the jail's commissary two weeks ago.

"He meant so much to us. He was the only boy, so it was like they took our prince," Brown previously said. "Lester was a loving, sweet, big ol' teddy bear who had plenty of friends and loved by a lot of people."

Additionally, Hill and another man, Kyrie Maxberry, were indicted in the assault of another victim. Each was charged with felonious assault in that incident.
