COVINGTON, Ky. -- A Kenton County Circuit Court judge sentenced a man to life in prison Tuesday for sex crimes involving a child, the Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney Office announced.

Darrin Walker, 61, was convicted of four counts of sodomy of a child younger than 12 years old and one count of rape.

Jurors deliberated for less than an hour before returning the guilty verdict after a three-day trial last month. The jury also recommended the life sentence to Judge Patricia Summe after deliberating for about 15 minutes.

Walker will serve a minimum of 20 years before he's eligible for parole and would be required to register as a sex offender if he is ever released from prison.
