Deters: Won't see this at Times Square

CINCINNATI - The story of a teenager being shot and killed by police on Fountain Square had more than 40,000 page views in less than 48 hours.

Cincinnati Police Officer Oscar Cyranek shot 16-year-old Davon Mullins Saturday night after Mullins drew a firearm during a physical altercation with Cyranek, according to police.

9 News published the story on minutes after the shooting, which occurred just before 8 p.m.  Since then, the story has generated nearly 1,000 views an hour.

Many users posted comments to the story including Marilyn McClain.

"This is horrendous," McClain said.  "The one special place in downtown, now poisoned by guns... I grew up shopping and enjoying downtown... I never was afraid to drive downtown. Now I am."

However, Joseph Mathews takes a different stance.

"It's obvious that the gun and shooting problem is not confined to any one area," Mathews said.  "I won't be intimidated. Cautious to be sure...I will continue to shop at Findlay Market and go to Fountain Square. If all of us stick together, regardless of race, we can take back Cincinnati."
