MT. ORAB, Ohio - A woman beaten and knocked unconscious by her former boyfriend outsmarted him and escaped with her two young kids, the Brown County Sheriff said.
The woman, 27, said Eric Widmeyer, 24, of Williamsburg, broke into her home on Nixon Road Monday through a back patio door and demanded money. When she refused, he hit her in the face and head, knocking her out.
When she came to, he threatened to kill her and she gave him $50, the sheriff said.
Then Widmeyer forced her and her kids, ages 3 and 5, to drive with him to Eastgate to buy drugs, she said.
When Widmeyer got out of her car and walked toward a man in the parking lot, the woman locked the doors, climbed over the seat and drove away.
After dropping her children off at a friend’s home, she called 911 and drove to Clermont Mercy Hospital, where she was treated, the sheriff said.
Widmeyer turned himself in to the Williamsburg Police Department on Tuesday. He was charged with felony robbery, kidnapping, abduction and tampering with evidence.
Widmeyer is locked up at the Brown County jail awaiting arraignment.
