CINCINNATI – A Cincinnati man charged with aggravated murder after the death of a 2-month-old is scheduled to appear in a Hamilton County courtroom Thursday to either enter a plea or set a date for trial.
Daniel McClure, 21, was indicted in October 2013 on multiple charges including murder, felonious assault and endangering children after the baby was found not breathing in an apartment in the 400 block of 9th Street.
The child was taken to Children's Hospital with severe head trauma and later died from his injuries.
Investigators say the 2-month-old showed other signs of abuse, including broken bones.
McClure was a friend of the infant's mother, according to police.
"These cases are always the saddest ones that we prosecute. No baby should be the victim of homicidal violence," said Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters, whose office is handling the case.
McClure is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m.
