Man held on $285K bond after firing shot in Over-the-Rhine, police say

CINCINNATI -- A man arrested in connection with a shooting in Over-the-Rhine Tuesday night was held on a $285,000 bond Wednesday.

Authorities say 32-year-old Jerome Young was arrested after accidentally fired a gun while running from police. Original reports said an officer was shot at, but police said Wednesday the shot was not directed at officers.

The officer, who was not hit by the shot, was conducting an investigation just after 10 p.m. at an apartment in the 1300 block of Walnut Street when the gunshot went off.

Young was arrested at about 11 p.m.

The apartment was not evacuated, according to an officer on the scene. He said people do live there.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Authorities did not say what the nature of the investigation was.
